Sunday, May 11th – St. Margarets U14 Girls  pulled off a fantastic victory against top-of-the-table St. Marks, securing a well-earned four-point win in a thrilling U14 Division 7 encounter.

St. Marks wasted no time making their mark, starting strong with a few points in quick succession. Their sharp attacking play had Margarets fearing a potential hammering as the league leaders looked set to dominate. However, rather than crumble under the early pressure, Margarets found their composure, regrouping swiftly and tightening up their defensive shape.

One of the defining aspects of the game was the outstanding performance of Margarets’ back line. Faced with relentless attacking runs from St. Marks' powerful midfielders, the defenders pulled together, working tirelessly to absorb the pressure. Every time Marks looked set to break through, Margarets’ defense responded with determination, turning defense into attack whenever an opportunity arose.

As the first half progressed, Margarets grew into the game, absorbing the waves of attacks from Marks while launching counterattacks of their own. Their resilience paid off, as well-worked passages of play saw them claw back the deficit and establish themselves in the contest.

By the second half, Margarets had fully settled, executing their game plan with confidence. Their midfield worked tirelessly, linking up well with the forwards to create scoring chances. A crucial spell midway through the half saw Margarets edge ahead, and despite a late push from St. Marks, they held their nerve to see out the win.
